Welcome to Coastal Roots Microbakery, a licensed small-batch microbakery located in the Ocean View area of Norfolk, Virginia, rooted in a love for real food, from-scratch baking, and the community around us.

My journey began over 12 years ago when I discovered the paleo lifestyle. What started as a personal shift in the way I thought about food grew into a lasting passion for knowing where my food comes from, making things from scratch, shopping locally, and supporting the small businesses and farmers who help make our community special.

Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours in the kitchen experimenting, learning, and finding joy in creating food from simple, quality ingredients. Baking sourdough became another way to slow down and reconnect with the process - giving ingredients time to transform into something nourishing, comforting, and worth sharing.

That love eventually grew into Coastal Roots Microbakery.

Everything we make is crafted in small batches with care, from naturally fermented sourdough breads to cozy seasonal muffins, cinnamon rolls, and other homemade favorites. We believe there’s something special about food made by hand the kind of food that fills your kitchen with an incredible smell and brings people back for just one more bite.

Coastal Roots is about more than baking. It’s about real food, local roots, and building community one loaf at a time.

    The cinnamon rolls are the best!! You can taste the cinnamon and the icing is delicious!!

    Absolutely delicious! Everything tasted so fresh and homemade. The banana bread was incredibly soft and practically melted in my mouth, and the cinnamon rolls were creamy, flavorful, and perfectly indulgent.

    Everything heats up beautifully and tastes just as fresh the next day. The sourdough rolls were especially amazing….so good for sandwiches! I even turned the leftovers into homemade salad croutons, and they were incredible.

    You can really taste the quality and care that goes into everything. Just YUM! Will definitely be ordering again.
